The 3rd Annual National Singles Day Event Was A Huge Hit, Thanks To West Hollywood City Hall, Our Contributors, Supporters, Generous Participating Merchants… and YOU!
January 2016’s festivities were held in National Singles Day’s founding city of West Hollywood, CA and our awesome Singles Day 2016 Partners & Sponsors made it possible for our 3rd annual event to be better than ever. Everyone – singles and couples alike – enjoyed a day of entertainment, giveaways, awards, recognition and celebration all in honor of the single life. Whether single by choice or by circumstance, all the singles in the house were feeling the Singles Day love!
Singles Day 2016 Recap
Giveaways, awards, comedy, music, raffle, cocktails, mocktails and more! Plus a brand new addition to the Singles Day fun – the Single & Looking™ Awesome Afterparty – co-sponsored by Single & Looking™ Apparel Co., clothing and accessories that celebrate the spontaneity and adventure that being romantically unencumbered allows. Event-goer’s interested in meeting like-minded others wore neon-colored wristbands to indicate their mood – all in the spirit of fun, adventure and serendipity!
2016 is also the year the City of West Hollywood issued a proclamation making Singles Day an official West Hollywood holiday – the first city in the U.S. to do so! A bevy of local merchants showed their support as well, donating giveaways, gift bag goodies, raffle and auction items as well as in-store specials, many of which lasted throughout the month of January. The first National Singles Day celebration was started by one person and yours can be too. Begin by reaching out to local businesses –restaurants, bars, clubs, shops – that might be interested in hosting a Singles Day event. Getting a large group of people together for a celebration at a local venue is profitable for them and fun for us.
Parks and other public places are also great for setting up your own Singles Day event. It can be as simple as a picnic or active as a rally. Check with your local City Hall to see what facilities they can make available. You can even go all-out and put on a Singles Day festival with guest speakers, entertainment, merchant booths, food and drink.
National Singles Day is a fantastic speaking opportunity for city or community leaders. Talk to your local Chamber of Commerce to find out who might be available and interested. The possibilities for creating an engaging and successful Singles Day celebration are endless – use your imagination – and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! You’ll find that nearly everyone you speak to likes the idea and wants to participate. Singles Day is a win-win proposition for everyone. And it grows in opportunity – and festivity – year after year!
